    Correspondence to Philip Yorke, 2nd Earl of Hardwicke (son of Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke). He sat in the House of Commons as member for Reigate (1741–47), and afterwards for Cambridgeshire. Became Lord Royston 1754-1764, and Earl of Hardwicke in 1764. Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire 1757–1790. Important figure in Whig circles. Married Jemima Campbell (Marchioness Grey) in May 1740 and had a very successful happy marriage, they had 2 daughters Amabel Yorke (Amabel Hume-Campbell) and Mary Jemima Grey Yorke (Mary Robinson, Lady Grantham).
