Letter from Elizabeth Yorke to Jemima Yorke. Sent from Wimpole: Thanks for 4 very happy days at Wrest; arrived about 3; changed horses at Biggleswade, where were advised to go by Waresley and Gransden "but we never should have found our way from thence to the North road if a charitable farmer, seeing us in a strange country, had not taken compassion upon us... our guide... brought us out upon the very part of Stow common we had taken so much pains to avoid, but the few dry days" had made it much better than when they had passed previously.
