- Admin/biog historyWilliam P Alcock was born in Kilkenny Ireland, but was attested at Bedford on 17th of June 1907. He served in France October 1914, April 1915 - March 1916 and July 1916 - September 1917 and sustained a gun shot wound to the neck in 1918. Beginning as a regular, he became Colour Sergeant, then Company Quarter Master Sergeant. He was awarded the 1914 war medal and victory medal, as well as receiving the long service and good conduct medal in 1925 In 1926 he married Elsie Fitch at Bedford who gave birth to a daughter in Malta the following year In 1928 he was discharged, being described as 'physically unfit for any form of military service, although fit for employment in civil life'. These photographs were collected by Alcock during his military service with the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment

- Archival historyThe photographs were sent to the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire regimental museum at Wardown Park in June 2014 by D. Alcock, William's child. From there they were then passed on to the archives.
