- Scope and ContentLetters from Stibbard, Gibson & Co, F.Safford & H.E.Powers to T.J.Hooper increasing concern of F.Safford about his partner, G.Powers. He remarks in a letter of 26 November 1884 G.Powers "is so shifty" - likely to go bankrupt Safford thought Powers "only wants to gain time to get up another swindle." Safford supports the idea of getting Eastwoods to give evidence in Police Court, to force Powers to pay £3,000 Safford mentions that Eastwoods are the only buyers of bricks from the Brickfield AND that they are probably scheming to get hold of the Brickfield (undated letter c. December 1884) Safford still thinking of continuing with the business but wihout George Powers references to accounts & numbers of bricks on the field (6 October, 24 November & 12 December 1884) C.Ivory, the foreman gives details on the prospects of the Brickfield Incidental References Safford going to watch a game of cricket: Gentlemen v Australians, May 1884 Safford mentions fishing in Norway including a dispute, also May 1884 Horses and vans being sold at Albion Mills because shut down, 6 October 1884 Safford loses £150 gambling after denying himself for last year & a half, 10 November 1884 Safford suggests sales of specified animal heads & skins, possibly to Captain Shuttleworth, same date H.E.Powers, writing from St Stephen's Club, Westminster, needs £10 for rent, 29 November 1884 needs £20, "surely affairs not so bankrupt a condition that you can refuse me ?", 18 December 1884
