Letter to his mother “and all” from No. 34 Hut, L Lines, North Camp, Halton Park [Buckinghamshire] “Just a line hoping this will find you quite well as it leaves me at present. Well mother I expect some of the Burton Boys will be home tomorrow night “Wednesday” for their six days leave, you mus’nt expect me home as I’m on a course of range Finding and shall not be able to get home this week and in one way I don’t know as I want too for as soon as they get back they will be drafted in to B Coy: and that’s the Coy: all the drafts go from to go abroad yet I might get home any time after this week when I’m off of this course as we have’nt got much more to learn before we are trained men”. “You have’nt sent me Punch’s adress yet so I don’t know wether you have forgotton it. I expected you would send it with G Blackwell. I got my cycle quite safe and the cakes and pies but I don’t think I should have had it come up if I had known we was going to have our leaf. When any one write’s again, tell them to put the adress the same as I’ve wrote it this time”. “Tell Jack I see they are going to start pigeons racing again. I expect he will think it as much bother to start as it is worth, but any way I should’nt care if I was going to be home to help. Well I think this is all remember me to all at home so with best love and wishes”. “P. S. Jack will have a mate or two to go about with for a few more days when they get home. Tommy wont be coming home as he is in a course. Goodbye”.
