- Scope and ContentArgues similarly to above [HF41/7/8/37], cites negotiations subsequent to the unsuccessful auction for sale of Lots 1-5 by private treaty to another party, suspended as result of offer for the whole by George Powers. Bank willing to buy the Campton Estate, Biggleswade & Langford Mills with the Spectacles and Dams, both adjacent to Biggleswade Mill, for £11,000 if necessary to settle the whole affair, though not wanting the properties in question. This is however an improvement on their previous offer to Mr Walters for £10,000 The new offer is based on £7,500 for the Campton Estate (same as offered by George Powers) £3,500 for Biggleswade Mills etc (rental of £275, landlords liable for repairs) Nothing at all for Holme & Langford Mills as the Defendants have paid off £11,000 mortgages states that "country water mills are hardly saleable at all." Criticises Beadel's conduct of the Sale of the Campton Estate. The Particulars of Sale were defective. The amount of Land Tax was stated as double the true charge.
