    Part of a letter from William George Tompkins to his wife headed: “Extra” and as follows: Dear Rose We have been out drilling a bit today weather brighter. I thought a lot about you did Gert & Co visit CHA. Tell Herb I have not forgotten to write to him. Hope he is better by now. Wish Mrs Blount a Happy Birthday for me. I think its her birthday about now tell her she will have not to lay in bed when I come Home again for I shall want you all to hustle about. Does old Postman have games with you still. I hope the time will not be long when I shall see Dear Old Hornsey & Wood Green once again. Any News of Bob. Remember & give my New Years Greeting to Mr Lane & Mr Doyle.
