Turvey, Bedford Road, Barton Almshouses. Front view of building with lawn, benches and street lamps. In the roof over the centre section is a small tower structure topped with a weather vane. There is a bay window with a clock above it over the main entrance. There is an old gentleman sitting on the left hand bench. The building was erected in 1885 in the tudor style with red brick and stone dressings. Knight printer, Olney. Postally used Dec 22nd 1904. Card sent to Mrs Butterfield, Bedford. Message reads "Just to wish you both a very Happy Xmas and every good wish for the coming year. I hope you are both well as I am glad to say I am again. Yours with love G P."
