    William Reavitt: on Sunday afternoon he was John Cage and Thomas Sharman in William Peturins [?] meadow near the river. Thomas Sharman went to the arch a little distance from the part of the river where the 2 ducks were. Sharman picked ups something, which he believed were stones, and went back to John Cage. He saw both men thrown something in the river. He believed both man and boy saw him as they went away. He found 2 ducks near the water side which he took out of the river. One was dead in the water and the other died as he lay it on the bank. The ducks were the property of William and Samuel Mossman of Chicksands. He took the ducks to their house. Statement of the accused: they said they were in the meadow near the river for the purpose of getting water cress but they did not throw anything into the water.
