    06/04/1888 Indenture of conveyance between George Charles Gostelow Lockhart of Caddington Hall near Dunstable and Hugh Cumberland of Luton for the sum of £1000 for: Land of 44 poles and 4 yards in 2 lots, on Crawley Green Road, bounded on the SE by land belonging to Frederick William Burr and Reginald Crabb Burr, on the SW by a piece og ground messuage and premises belonging to Ann Tirebuck and then in her occupation and on the NE by the Great Northern Railway, late the Hertford, Luton & Dunstable Railway Company and also all that messuage late in the occupation of Messrs Hayward Tyler and Howards but then of the said Hugh Cumberland and then lately known or described as ‘Belle Vue House’ but then as ‘Brooklands’ . 10/04/1888 Indenture made between a) Hugh Cumberland and b) William Sheaf of Marsh Farm Kings Walden, farmer and Helen Sheaf of Law Hall Farm Kings Walden spinster. In conson of the sum of £800 paid by William Sheaf and Helen Sheaf, Hugh Cumberland covenanted with them to repay principal with interest and as long as any principal money remained due under the now abstracting mortgage to pay interest half yearly. It was also witnessed that for the same conson, Hugh Cumberland as beneficial owner, conveyed to William Sheaf and Helen Sheaf the previously described premises to use in fee simple subject to the following proviso. Proviso for redemption on payment of principal and interest and to insure the premises against loss or damage by fire in the sum of £800. 11/05/1896 Indenture between a) Frederick William Burr and Reverend Reginald Crabb Burr of Eastbourne and b) Hugh Cumberland of Luton, Auctioneer, reciting that by: Indenture of conveyance dated 16th December 1878 between a) Edward Burr and Reginald Hartley Crabb and b) Albert Edward Burr and c) F W Burr and R C Burr, their first assigns forever as tenants in common not as joint tenants. In conson of £250 from Hugh Cumberland to F W Burr and R C Burr, they did convey ‘All that freehold plot or parcel of land situate at the rear of Crawley Green Road containing 64 poles bounded on or towards the NW side by properties belonging to Hugh Cumberland and the trustees of the late Kitty Dines and or towards the NE by the Great Northern Railwsay and on or towards the SE by land belonging to Ernest William Hart and on or towards the SW by land belonging to Joseph Mardle and Miss Kate Tirebuck’
