Rushton] Gresham and Robert Gresham contract with Henry Palmer, Lord of the Manor, for its enfranchisement under Clifton Enclosure Award 2 undivided 3rd parts in property including 2 messuages, cottages or tenements or messuage divided into 2 tenements, Shefford, formerly in occupation of - Paterman and William Whitbread then or late in occupation of Francis Parrott And close of meadow behind messuage (3 acres 5 perches) greatest part of which was awarded to John Dilley under Campton Inclosure Act (in award described as containing 2 acres 33 perches) situated in the East Meadow, Shefford abutting part N., on W and rest of N. by 3rd allotment to Francis Duke of Bedford E. & S. by parish of Clifton SW. old inclosed pightle belonging to John Dilley in respect of common meadow ground and rights belonging to messuages and old enclosed pightle was exonerated from tithes and laid into 1 piece of ground also occupied by Francis Parrott Consideration of £2616 25 and 26 Feb 1833 e) Fine 1) W R Gresham, plaintiff 2) Robert Gresham, deforciant Hilary 3 William IV f) release (effect of a Quit Claim) 1) Dorothy Gresham of Shefford, widow of Richard 2) William Rushton Graham Dorothy Gresham, spinster (daughter of 1) recites whole of personal estate had been divided between 3 surviving children William Rushton, Robert and Dorothy Bond in £3000 by 3 children to secure payment of £200 by them rather than it should be charge on the personal estate 5 Mar 1833 g) Will of Robert Gresham (died 30 August 1860) appoints wife Maria; nephew John Barber of Nottingham, grocer and friend George Crouch of Campton, farmer (trustees of his Will) to wife for life “she keeping the houses and buildings in tenantable repair and condition having regard to their state at the time of my death” after her death:- including stable in Shefford adjoining “White Hart Inn” formerly in occupation therewith and but then in occupation of Ellis and Everard with right of way for horses, carriages and foot passengers through the adjoining premises in occupation of James Parratt, “devised to son Gresham” with reversion to son Frederick :- trustees can lend son Frederick at 4% on strength of reversion made 2 February 1860 proved Prerogative Court of Canterbury 21 Nov 1860 h) Mortgage in £3000 and 4% interest 1) Frederick Gresham of Chicksands Lodge, Shefford, tanner (mortgagor) 2) Maria Gresham John Barber George Crouch (mortgagee) “Frederick Gresham decided to take to Robert Gresham (testator above)’s tanning business (valued at £3550)” property as above [HF41/1/1/32] 11 Mar 1861 made 1881
