- Scope and ContentRecites: order in Chancery Wednesday 24 April 19 Charles II [1667] Richard Conquest esquire, plaintiff v. Maurice Thompson [etc. as above] defendants Recites: Order of 28 January last by which it was ordered, amongst other things, that the plaintiff should speed his cause to a hearing this term and for ... said defendants were by consent to rejoin ... sides to examine their Witnesses so as publication might pass ... cause to be heard as aforesaid. Now... the matter this present day unto this court by master Rich, being the plaintiff's [counsel] in the presence of Master Amherst and master ... being of the defendant's counsel and upon reading an affidavit made on the plaintiff's behalf the ... counsel now moved and offerred divers ... publication should be stayed until the end of this term and the plaintiff at liberty for so ... examine his Witnesses and the cause heard ... and that in the meantime the plaintiff might have an Injunction to stay defendants [action] at law upon his verdict obtained by him ... plaintiff and said defendant's counsel not opposing a stay of publication nor the Injunction now desired (although the same by several former orders have been prayed and denied) so as the said plaintiff will upon the several verdicts obtained ... the said defendants on the several actions of Ejectment by them brought, confess judgements and give release of ... and speed the cause to hearing next term. This Court orders that plaintiff and defendants have further time to examine Witnesses until the last day of this term, meanwhile publication to be stayed and upon the plaintiff's giving a warrant of attorney to confess judgement .. several verdicts obtained ... and giving release ... at law against the plaintiff are stayed and ... the hearing of ... which said plaintiff is ... procure to be ... the next term and the plaintiff may make an Injunction for the purpose aforesaid
