    Recites: Order in Chancery 11 December 18 Charles II [1666] Court is informed by Master Edward, counsel with the plaintiff that the effect of the plaintiff's bill is to be relieved against a mortgage of certain lands mentioned in the bill made by the plaintiff to the defendants for securing £2,460 and interest to said defendant Thompson; said Thompson having all the said deeds in his custody and having sealed no counterpart of the mortgage to the plaintiff, the said plaintiff is not able to make out his title whereby to raise money to pay the said mortgage money nor to discharge other incumbrances and the said defendant Thompson confesses he does not remember sealing any counterpart of the mortgage and defendant Webb set forth to answer that he believes he hath the writing in his custody left with him by the other defendant Thompson. It was therefore prayed that the counsel may seal a counterpart and that they may produce the writing before the master of the court and leave them with him to the end ... them... the... to procure money and pay off the defendant whereupon it is ordered that the said defendant seal unto the plaintiff a counterpart. ... that the defendant do produce before Sir Mundiford Bramston, knight, one of the masters of this court the said writings concerning the lands in question and leave them with the said master for the purpose aforesaid.
