House above is called “Wig Club House and is situated at N. of property and abuts SE. Depot of Lord Lieutenant. Brewery, shed and malting also named Ditch is marked as covered to S. of property lay circular, bowling green Messrs Green’s property to East of Ditch is also marked rent £5 per annum 10 Dec 1840 [duplicate of X369/5] NB covenant 3) is to build a messuage under inspection of Duke’s architect on the site before 29 September 1841 according to specifications: to have entrance hall, 2 good parlours and a smaller one, 6 bedrooms, kitchens and other offices. Foundations to be 18 inches stonework, external walls to plates 14 inches brickwork, floors, partitions framed with Memel and Dantzig Fir Timber to cost not less than £1200 and to furnish etc., and complete Club Room now partly built (this “messuage or dwelling house” is the present “Castle Close” built for Charles’ son George Higgins. It was not however rated till February 1846. 1st appears on the Michaelmas 1845- Michaelmas 1846 Rental (R5/137)
