Scope and Content
Your letter of 24th June reached me three or four days ago. I only delayed answering it from day to day in the hope that I might be able to attend your Library meeting on Tuesday next,; but I am afraid now that I must decline doing so in order to meet some Magistrates from Glamorganshire in London on Tuesday morning, who are come to Town respecting the recent unhappy disturbances in that County. I shall be proud to be appointed a Trustee of the Bedfordshire Library.
