- Scope and ContentThomas Warner said: Between one and two o’clock this morning I was at the Yorkshire Grey Public House at Dunstable in the County of Bedford – it was Dunstable Fair Day the day before the prisoner George Lewin and other persons were drinking there. The prisoner asked me to tell him the time – I pulled out my watch to see what time it was, and the prisoner took hold of the ribband, and put the watch into his fob – he said “I look well with a watch”. The prisoner went towards the door I kept close to him when James Dearmer who was in his company took hold of me and turned me round and when he let go I found the prisoner had escaped – I pursued him this morning to St Albans - I got upon a coach and when I came between Market Street and the Pack Horse I saw the prisoner with James Dearmer and other persons coming along the road – I went to St Albans and got a constable and apprehended him near the Angel Public House at St Albans – the prisoner was searched by the constable in my presence and the watch now produced, which is my property was found upon him.
