- Scope and ContentAbraham Crouch: he was the son of the prosecutor James Crouch. On 7 March he was on the road leading from Silsoe to Shefford. About 20 yards from him he saw a horse and cart and a man get out of it. He looked through the gate at the man and saw him take some turnips from his father’s land and put them in the cart. He waited at the gate until the man came to it and then ordered him to take the turnips out of the cart and carry them back. After he had taken the turnips back he counted them and found there were 29. The person he saw was John Bushby, the prisoner. The turnips have been drawn in order to be used for the sheep. Statement of the accused: he acknowledged is fault and was sorry for it.
