    Airship Industries began to construct airships at Cardington in the late 1970s. The mid 1980s were their most productive, although not profitable, period. By 1988 the fleet worldwide was as follows: 500-02 G-BIHN, maiden flight September 1981 500-03 G-SKSA, maiden flight April 1983 500-04 (HL) G-SKSB, maiden flight October 1987 500-05 JA-1003, maiden flight May 1984 500-06 G-SKSH, maiden flight August 1985 600-01 G-SKSC, maiden flight March 1984 600-02 VH-HAA ex G-SKSD, maiden flight Sept 1985 600-03 G-SKSG, maiden flight July 1985 600-04 G-SKSF, maiden flight June 1986 600-05 G-SKSJ, maiden flight Nov 1986 600-06 VH-HAN, maiden flight Feb 1987 600-07 G-SKSL, maiden flight August 1987 600-08 had recently gone to Korea and two more ships were under construction. The company went into receivership in June 1989

    Most of the collection is of photographs, with some publicity material and other publications and a few additional photographs of the Bedford area.
  • Archival history
    Material collected by a private individual interested in the airships being made at Cardington in the 1980s. On his death, c2005 his executor passed the material to the Archives Service.
