  • Scope and Content
Dennis Woodward: he was the son of Abraham Woodward. On Wednesday evening he was going into the farmyard and found the door of the barley barn, which ought have been fastened on the inside was undone. The door would usually have been secured inside by the threshers. He went into the barn and examined the heap of barley which he found covered over with barley which had yet to be threshed. He found 2 bushels of barley in a sack. The barley was not completely dressed. The prisoner John Hall had been employed in the barn as a thresher. Having discovered the barley he concealed himself. It was about 7pm and he remained concealed until about 9.30pm. He saw John Hall come in. The moon was shining bright and he distinctly saw the countenances of both prisoners. John Hall took the barley out of the barn and Hudson shut the doors. He waited a minute or tow in the barn with Thomas Hare who had been concealed with him. He followed the prisoners and apprehended them. Hudson had the barley in a barrow which he was wheeling away. Hall was by the side of him.
