    Indictment - Henry Battams, Charles Cartwright, John Goodman, William Haynes, Henry Read, Henry Roberts, Thomas Roberts, Edmund Simpkins, John Taylor, Edward Underwood, William Whiteman, James Waters, and Elizabeth Chapman, widow, all of Ampthill, charged with riotously assempling to disturb the peace at Ampthill and continuing to make noise, riot and disturbance for over 4 hours and for attempting to obstruct the implementation of the New Poor Law [2 counts]. Pleas - Henry Roberts guilty, all other defendents not guilty. Verdict - all guilty.
