Hobart (now deceased, then Chief Justice of Common Bench and chancellor to Charles Prince of Wales), Sir James Fullerton (then master of wards and liveries, now gentlemen of the bedchamber), Sir J. Water (then attorney general, now Chief Baron of the Exchequer), Sir Thomas Trevor (then solicitor general, now a baron of the Exchequer) to the use of Charles prince of Wales. Honour of Ampthill in Beds. and Bucks. Manor of Clophill and Caynhoe. Manor of Flitwick. Manor of Milbrook. Assignment to James Beverley of Huckelscoate, Leister, Esq.- 30 Jan. 1627/8 - £740 - Manor of Clophill and Caynhoe, with woods, etc :- Pidley Wood, 68 1/2 acres - Rent: £6-9-11 1/2d and 1/3d and 1 of pepper, of which 4s. 2d. is an increment above the rents of the tenants at will at their rent of 10s. And after the determination of the grants made by Queen Elizabeth, the rent of £7-4s-5d and 1/3d besides the annual increment rent. Howgrove, 11acres - held with Pidley wood. Kainhoe Wood (or Park), 420 acres - Rent : £20-13s-4d ( a further £20-13s. 4d. after the determination of Elizabeth's grant to Thomas Viscount Fenton.) Assignment to Francis Huett of Potters Barr, Middx., Esq. - 8 Feb. 1627/8 - £210 Farmhouse called the Grange in the Lordship of Ampthill, with lands - Rent : £7-6s 8d (+ another £7-6s-8d after determination of their separate estates ?) Flitwick Little Wood and Flitwick Great Wood, in Flitwick, 48 acres, occupied Robert Huett. - Rent: £4-8s 11d (+ another £4-8s-11d etc.) Assignment to Mathew Denton of Barton - 11 Feb. 1627/8 - £80 Messuage in Milbrook 2 closes in Fullway 4 acres land and meadow in Heyden Field 3 acres land in Court field 1/2? acre land in Fordpeece 1/2 acre meadow in Ireland occupied Thomas Cartwright Close of pasture called Ladyfield alias Knolls, occupied William Button. Rent: 55s 4d (+ another 55s 4d...) Now the Crown grants to James Beverley senior of Eaton Socon, Esq. the reversion of the following : - Manor of Clophill and Cainhoe etc. as above, with freehold rents (total 13s 4d. and 11b pepper), copyhold rents (total £5-19s-0d) and rents and tenants at will (total 5s 10d) Pidley Wood 68 1/2 acres, occupied Alice Boteler at rent £7-4s-5 1/3 d. Howgrove, 11acres occupied Robert Thorpe senior, Brian Thorpe, and Robert Thorpe, son of Robert senior at rent 43s. Cainhoe Wood (or Park), 420 acres, occupied Thomas Viscount Fenton, at rent £20-13s. 4d. Lately part of the possession of the Earl of Kent, then annexed to the Honour of Ampthill, then demised as above. - Grange, Flitwick property and Milbrook property as above. Except : Site of Manor of Cainhoe (rent £25-6s-8d) and Coney Warren (rent £7), granted to said James Beverley of Hucklescourt, by Letters Patent 1 March 1626/7 Mill in Manor of Clophill and Cainhoe (rent £3) granted to said James Beverley Senior in fee farm. 6 acres land and wood in Steppingley Park, sometime since enclosed, formerly part of Flitwick Wood. All knights fees, wardships, marriages, advowsons, mineral rights. To be held in free socage of the Manor of East Greenwich (except Cainhoe Park which is to be held in chief by service of knights fee.) Rents to be paid after determination of 99 years lease : for Manor of Clophill and Cainhoe, Pidley Wood and Howgrove : £23-14-4 1/2d. and 1/3d and 11b. pepper for Cainhoe Wood (Park) : £41-6s.8d for The Grange : £14-13s. 4d for Flitwick Wood : £8-17s. 10d. for Messuage, close and land, part of Manor of Millbrook : £5-10s.8d. 4 April 1628
