Glad you have put in a claim'. - Letters from H E Trueman, Fulham Cross: July 1940 sorry for being a week late with quarter ground rent '...but the trouble is I am £12 over assessed since the last Valuation and with the constantly increase in the rate and less trade we can scarsely pay our way...', Oct 1940 '...Sorry for being late again Fulham Cross was badly raided last week but I am happy to say I got off with only the most of my windows blown out. With only about 2 hours sleep each morning makes you rather forgetful.' Dec 1940 '...I am thankful to say I am still safe though houses are down all around me.'
