- Admin/biog historyGeorge Franklin and Alice Holborn of Eyeworth had three daughters - Doris, Phyllis and Rose. Doris married Thomas Evans and moved from 10 Eyeworth, where she had been born, to 13 Eyeworth - The Ongley Arms. She ran the Ongley Arms with her husband until the 1980s. Thomas Evans also worked for the Cincinnati Milacron company in Biggleswade. Doris and Thomas had two sons. Phyllis was born in 1918 and went into service at Gaslings in Southill for the Bowes-Lyon family. In 1942 she married Mr Peck and they lived at Broom for the rest of their lives. Mr Peck died in his early 40s and Phyllis dedicated her time to raising money for the Lister Hospital. She was later awarded an MBE for this work. Phyllis wrote of her life and childhood memories of Eyeworth and this collection contains a typescript of this. Rose was an air cadet and ambulance driver during the war and married a Mr Warren from Suffolk who she had met at Haverhill during the war. Doris, Phyllis and Rose are all buried at Eyeworth. The depositor attended Bedford Modern School.
