- Scope and ContentCopy Conveyance [Lots 1, 3, 10 and 11] Parties: (i) George William Russell, commonly called Lord George William Russell, brother of (ii); (ii) Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford; (iii) Thomas Davies of Bedford, esquire; (iv) John Langley Mayle of Bedford, plumber; (v) John Hill Day of Saint Neots [Huntingdonshire], brewer; (vi) Richard Halfhead of Bedford, banker; (vii) Charles Short of Bedford, surgeon Reciting: (I) lease and appointment of 26th-27th July 1810 between (1) John, 6th Duke of Bedford; (2) Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford, then Marquess of Tavistock and Anna Maria, his wife; (3) Charles Stanhope, 3rd Earl of Harrington; (4) William Adam; William Drew; (5) John FitzPatrick, 2nd Earl of Upper Ossory; William Adam; (6) Edward Adolphus Saint Maur, 11th Duke of Somerset; Charles Stanhope, Viscount Petersham in which (a)-(c) was limited to the use of (5) for 2,000 years from the death of (2) as trustees to raise £10,000 for each of (2)’s children apart from his eldest son (II) lease and appointment of 20th and 21st July 1824 between (1) John, 6th Duke of Bedford; (2) Francis, Duke of Bedford; (3) William Russell, commonly called Lord William Russell, now dead, brother of (1); William George Adam; (4) Lord William Russell; Lord George William Russell; William George Adam; (5) Thomas Thynne, 2nd Marquess of Bath; Henry Richard Vassall-Fox, 3rd Baron Holland (appointments of 20th June 1829 between (1) John, 6th Duke of Bedford; (2) Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford; (3) Lord William Russell; William George Adam; (4) and 29th and 31st March 1834 between (1) John, 6th Duke of Bedford; (2) Francis, 7th Duke of Bedford; (3) Lord William Russell; William George Adam indorsed upon it) in which (a)-(c) was settled for 1,500 years from 20th July 1824 on (5) to the use of (2) for his life after the death of (1) with power of sale for Lord George William Russell (III) (i), with the consent of (ii), had agreed sale of (a) to (iii) for £273/2/6 (IV) (i), as trustee for (ii), had contacted sale of (b) to (iv) for £158/6/8 (V) (iv) had contracted sale of (b) to (iii) for £183/6/8 (VI) (i), as trustee for (ii), had agreed sale of (c) to (v) for £341/13/4 (VII) (v) had contracted sale of (c) to (vi) for £375/16/8 (VIII) (vi) had built a nine inch thick brick wall on the N side of (c) (IX) (vi) had contracted sale of (c) to (iii) for £433/16/8 (X) (iii), (iv) and (vi) had requested (i) and (ii) to limit and assure (a)-(c) (XI) (ii)’s only issue was William, Marquess of Tavistock, aged 32, and no other child and it was agreed that (ii) would enter into the covenant Operative Part: - (iii) paid £273/2/6 to (i) by direction of (ii); - (iii) paid £158/6/8 to (i) by direction of (ii) and (iv); - (iii) paid £25 to (iv); - (iii) paid £341/13/4 to (i) by direction of (ii), (v) and (vi); - (iii) paid £34/3/4 to (v) by direction of (vi); - (iii) paid £58 to (vi); - (i), with the consent of (ii), revoked all trusts, including those of 1824, 1829 and 1834 above, affecting (a); - (i), by consent of (ii), and direction of (vi), (v) and (vi) appointed (a)-(c) to (iii) Property [as shown on included plan]: (a) piece of land formerly part of Dovehouse Close bounded: N or NE by a new road of 20 feet width [Balsall Street West]; S by (b); E by new road [Harpur Street]; W by a new road of 20 feet width [Cross Street]; containing 6,900 square feet; (b) piece of ground forming part of the former Dovehouse Close bounded: N by (a); S by part of Dovehouse Close contracted to be sold to George Henry Flood [R6/5/20/3/3]; E by Harpur Street; W by Cross Street; containing 4,000 square feet; (c) piece if ground forming part of the former Dovehouse Close bounded: N by part of the close contracted to be sold to George Dilley; S by land of the Trustees of the Harpur Charity; E by a new road of 20 feet width recently formed from the close [part of Balsall Street East leading south towards Dame Alice Street]; containing 8,200 square feet.
