- Scope and ContentJames Smith was a prisoner at the last Quarter Session and was admitted as Kings Evidence on the trial of James Tuffnail and Joseph Lines. The 2 parties indicted and James Smith after having given his evidence against them he was discharged. A search had been made from James Smith at Luton and Hemel Hempstead and other places he was likely to be met with but he had not yet been found and it was impossible in her judgement of this despondent foe the said John Carpenter to be convicted without the evidence of the said James Smith.
