- Scope and ContentJoseph Godfrey: he was gamekeeper to Joseph Andrew Lautour esquire of Hexton. On 22 February, he went in the company of George Pates, constable of Offley, who had a search warrant for the house of John Allen at Pegsden in the parish of Shillington. This was where Edward Burr lodged. In a little closet near Burr’s bed they found a rabbit trap belonging to his master Mr Lautour. He had missed some traps, which had been set on his masters ground, the previous day. Statement of the accused: the trap had been brought home on his master’s dog’s foot about hay time.
