    Founded in 1815 at a public meeting held in the Sessions house with Sir George Osborn in the chair. John Gibbard of Sharnbrook was one of the secretaries from the Institution's foundation. It continued apparently until about 1840 or 1839 when a Board of Education for the Archdeaconry and county of Bedford in union with the National Society was formed.
