    1) Conveyance to Trustee for Sale 1) Leonard Guiver Burnand of 81 Egremont Street, Brighton, Sussex, millwright and engineer (vendor) 2) William Bennett of Saffron Walden, Essex, gentleman (Trustee for Sale) recites Will of John Hill Burnand of Sawston, Cambridgeshire, millwright (died 4 Dec 1849 intestate) leaving 1) (eldest son) and Sophia (wife) surviving. Sophia entered into premises and continued there until her death August 1861 Freehold messuage or tenement with croft of land to the same adjoining and belonging (½ acre) Sawston, Cambridgeshire between tenement formerly Jiggins on south part and tenement formerly of John Green and afterwards of John Whetstone but then of – on W., One head on Shingay Lane E. other head on High Street from Cambridge to London on west part. part converted into separate cottages or dwellings then in several occupations of Robert Wiles, --Farrington, widow Brailsford, Frederick Hammond, Leonard Guiver Burnand 8 Mar 1864 2) Statutory declaration by Stephen Fortin of Sawston, Cambridgeshire, aged 75, born in January 1791, comes to Sawston, January 1808, when apprentice to John Littlechild, wheelwright deceased. resided at Sawston ever since except one year at Duxford. Knew above property well – his own property abutting it to the S. (which he owned after purchase from John Mean c.20 years ago.) When first came to Sawston dwellinghouse and cottages above belonged to George Gregory of Sawston, tailor. c.1814 sold to John Hill Burnand of Sawston, millwright, occupied it till death in 1849, then by his family 1 May 1866 Statutory Declaration by John William Howard Crane of Cambridge, solicitor, his firm in business many years as Harris, Sumpter and Hyde and then Sumpter, Hyde and Crane, then Sumpter and Crane, and that prior to 1814 and for some time subsequently Robert Gee the elder and Robert the younger were in practice together till Robert Gee the elder’s death when Robert Gee the younger continued alone as solicitor in Cambridge till his death in 1834. Papers dispersed, some to Samuel Peed of Cambridge, solicitor, and some to Charles Pestell, afterwards a member of Harris and Sumpter, see above, ever since held by the firm represented now by Crane and William Richard Sumpter lately applied to by Freeland, solicitor of Saffron Walden for draft of deed of Release 1) George Gregory and Mary his wife 2) John Burnand 3) Robert Gee the younger 4) Robert Gee the elder Messuage and croft, Sawston, Cambridgeshire 3 Feb 1814 produced it 18 Jul 1866 Statutory Declaration of Matilda Guiver Hammond, wife of Frederick Hammond of Sawston, brazier She was child of John Hill Burnand, late of Sawston, millwright, deceased and Sophia his wife (nèe Guiver), produced 5 children, 1) Leonard Guiver Burnand, baptised 18 April 1813, Sawston, eldest son 2) John Guiver Burnand 3) Ann Sophia who married Robert Wiles late of Sawston, plumber and was since deceased 4) Matilda as above who married i) John Wiles, late of Sawston, painter and was since deceased, married ii) Frederick Hammond 5) Susannah Guiver who married Robert Hills of Cambridge, miller Two other children who were dead 6) Susannah Alice died, infant 7) Francis Guiver who died aged 18 believed parents married 4 June 1811 at Sawston Church father buried at Sawston 10 December 1849 intestate After death of first husband lived with her mother in one of several cottages belonging to her father on his death, until her death on 11 August 1861 at Sawston, Cambridgeshire, buried there on 1 Aug 1861. Father generally known as John Burnand although true name John Hill Burnand. same person as described as purchaser in Lease and Release of 2 and 3 February 1814 21 Jul 1866 received 10 Sep 1880 examined with the deeds at J W Prior’s offices, Emanuel Street, Cambridge 24 Nov 1880
