(the purchaser) Recites : Marriage Settlement of Sir Thomas Bromsall with Mary Cooling (trustees : Francis Gwin and Richard Powis), Settling £500 annuity on Mary, charges on lands in Biggleswade - 17 Oct. 1704 Sir Thomas Bromsall died shortly after the marriage- without making any other settlement. 1 Feb. 1705 Case in chancery re payment of annnuity to Mary, widow of Sir Thomas and the inheritance of the estate. This lasted from 1705 to 1741. By a report in chancery, dated 24 Dec. 1708, there was presented the following valuation of lands comprised in a surrender of copyhold of the Manor of Biggleswade, 24 Oct. 1670. Herbert died in October 1729, and Mary in March 1730. By 1737 £15,413-7-4 1/2 was due to the executors of Herbert and his wife Mary, on account of the annuity and interest accruing; £558-18s-6d was due to Sir. Thomas Cross (creditor of Dr. Herbert); £5508-15-0 was due to the Countess of Granville (another creditor of Herbert.) Purchase money: £58-18-6 to Sir J.
