- TitleCharles Stafford, yeoman of Shefford, accused of unlawfully contriving and intending to free and discharge the parishioners and inhabitants of Shefford from relieving, maintaining and providing for Robert Bedford (poor and impotent person who had lately inhabited the town). The said Robert Bedford being sick languid and wholly unfit for removal. Stafford did without legal warrant did convey and leave Robert Bedford in the parish of Saint Mary, Bedford where he had no legal settlement. The people of St Mary's have been obliged to expend the sum of £10 in relief maintenance for the said Robert Bedford in surgical, medical aid and in medicines. [2 counts] Plea: Not Guilty : Verdict: Not Guilty
