Commissioners under Bankruptcy Order of 3 February 1787 2) Dennis Herbert of Biggleswade, merchant John Collison of Hitchin, merchant Assignees of Jeremy Bryant late of Biggleswade, bankrupt 3) Thomas Barns, mortgagee 4) Jeremy Bryant, bankrupt 5) John French of Biggleswade, gentleman, petitioner in Bankruptcy who is admitted 3 February 1787 order appoints:- George Edwards esquire, Ed. Gooch, gentleman to act with 1) last 4 years woolstapler (for first 2 years drapers as well) in buying wool, sorting and combing same, and manufacturing part into yarn and selling same. Jeremy Bryant indebted to 5) £134..18s who is intitled to lands (subject to mortgage to 3)) for £300 (10 August 1785) 28 February 1787 conveyed to 2) as Trustees agreed to be sold for £380, barns for £332..10s paid off rest to be held by 2) for themselves and rest of creditors (i.e. £47..10s) 6 messuages or cottages, woolware houses or shops sometime since erected on ground behind messuages formerly called “an hempland” And yard, garden and Compting house also behind messuages (2 messuages, yard etc and wool warehouse, late in occupation of Jeremy Bryant) now in occupation of John French; rest of messuages occupied by Ann Empey, William Carter, William Grant and John Hide
