He saw some of the hay littered about the rick and along a path leading towards Rads End. He followed the track to a stile at Rads End. Some hay was littered at the stile. He followed the track along the lane to the barn of James Fowler. Hay was littered all along to the barn. He saw James Fowler’s son and asked if he kept rabbits. He answered that his father did. He went into the barn and saw that the rabbits were littered with hay. On the far side of the barn was a heap of hay, enough to serve a horse for the night. He took the hay with him and compared it with the hay in his mother’s rick. It consists of white clover and trefoil . She is sure it is his mother’s hay that he found in the barn. He values it at 4d. James Fowler – he found the hay he believes on last Tuesday morning near his house door at about 6am as he was going to fetch water. He did not put it in the barn.
