Jabez Cole, a gamekeeper of Podington. He keeps a vermin trap set in a box in Podington Wood all year round. He last saw the trap at 4am on 9th August. He went to check the trap again at 7am and the trap was missing. He went to the prisoner who was at work in a nearby field and accused him of stealing the trap. He looked in the prisoner’s basket and found the trap. The prisoner admitted taking the trap. John Croxton: I am guilty.
