To executors (Edward Payne of St Albans, grocer, and George Smith of Houghton Conquest, farmer) in trust: house wherein testator dwells; with 10 acres and 2 cottages in occupation of Joseph Hare and Richard Coleman; for son John; house in Clophill in occupied by George Garner; 2½ acres cottage occupied by Samuel Francis; 8 acres in Clophill called Gravelpit field; for daughter Elizabeth. In default of heirs to John and Elizabeth property goes to children of sister Sarah Payne. Suitable provision is to be made for sister Mary. Witnesses: Samuel Burrows, Clophill; John White Burrows, Clophill; George Austin, Shefford. Codicil: substituting as executors William Payne of St Albans, grocer, Edward Payne, (both nephews), and friend John Burroughs of Clophill, millwright.
