Part of this, at least, was acquired by Nicholls before 1664, but there are no purchase deeds. Agnes, widow of Robert Green, married Edward Rolfe, of Finchly, Middx, and it may be that the "4 acres (part of 6 1/2 acres late Samuel Rolfe's)" mentioned in the 1693 admission and for which there is no other evidence here, were formerly Green's. The messuage at Chibley looks as though it might have been acquired by marriage of Charles Nicholls with Agnes in the 1664 settlement : could this have been the Agnes who married Robert Green and afterwards Edward Rolfe ?"
