    Luton, Park Town Methodist Church (originally Primitive Methodist)
  • Admin/biog history
    Built in 1864 in Brache Street with a Sunday school room added in 1876. The church was known by the name "Park Town" from 1877 and was the central church of the Luton II (Park Town) Primitive Circuit founded in 1879. A manse was built next to the chapel in the early 1880s and a gallery added in 1884. The chapel was extended in 1958. In 1968 Mount Tabor church was sold and the congregation amalgamated with Park Town. The church was compulsorily purchased for demolition by Luton Borough Council and replaced by a new church at Strathmore Avenue which opened in 1972. [see MB2/LSA].
