- Scope and ContentRobert Blewitt: A market gardener living at Biggleswade. On Thursday 20 July 1893 about 5pm he went to do some work in his field in London Road, Biggleswade. He had a coat on his horse’s back, the horse being tied to the field gate by the road. About 40 minutes later he found the coat missing. He then informed the police. Thomas Stock: A police constable stationed in Southill. On Saturday 22nd July 1893 he arrested the prisoner at Southill on another charge. The prisoner was wearing the missing coat. He took the prisoner to the police station in Biggleswade. On Monday 24th July 1893 on further information received he charged the prisoner with stealing the coat from the back of the horse on Thursday 20th July. The prisoner replied that he had not stolen the coat. James Ridgwell: Nothing to say.
