    Deposition of Ann Mays on her Oath saith as follows: I am a widow and keep a Confectioneries shop at Sandy. One Friday 6th May 1892 about 4 p. m. I took off my spectacles and laid them on the counter of the shop and waited upon a little girl and as the girl was leaving the shop the prisoner came in and offered me some shoe laces for sale and asked me several times to buy some. I refused to buy any and prisoner left - shortly after had gone before any one else came into the shop I missed my spectacles and gave information to P. SC. Marsden. About an hour afterwards P. C. Marsden brought prisoner and spectacles to my shop when I identified both – the spectacles I now produce are the same and are worth 10/-. Depositions of Caleb Marsden on his Oath saith: I am a Police Constable stationed at Sandy. On Friday 6th May 1892 from information received I went in search of the prisoner and found him at the Greyhound Inn Sandy about 5.15 p.m. I said to him “Have you any glasses about you” he replied “No” I then searched him and found the glasses now produced in his inside pocket and said to him “How do you account for these” he replied “I bought them” I said “where” he then replied “I don’t know” I then took him and the glasses to the prosecutrix who identified them as her property in the presence of the prisoner the prisoner then said “They are my property I bought them at Croydon” I then charged him with stealing them and took him into custody - he gave the name of James Robinson.
