    John Odell said: I am an innkeeper at Sandy about 8.30am on Saturday 27 August the prisoner came to my house and asked for work – I then directed him to a person who pulling tents down in Sandy and required a man – he then asked “Where can I leave my bag” He had two bags tied together with a rope, he also had a piece of iron. I said “You can put them under my shed” He did so – I showed the same to PC Stevens. George Stevens said: I am a Police Constable at Sandy. About 9pm the 28th Aug from information received I saw the witness Odell – he showed me the two bags produced they were in a shed. I took possession of them and now produce them. James Mace said: I am a Market Gardener and live at Sandy about 6pm on Friday 26th August 1892 I saw my bag safe in my barn and I missed it at 7 o'clock next morning the 27th inst. The bag now produced by PC Stevens is the same one and I value it at 4d. [cross-examined] I set you to work on Thursday 25th August. Jesse Finding said: I am the son of George Finding and live at Girtford. About 7 o'clock on Saturday morning 27th August when I was going to work I saw George Braybrook come away from James Mace yard carrying a bag, a brown one on his back. statement of the accused: I have got nothing to say sir
