- Scope and Content4 September 1847 Magistrate; C H Smith The prison, and prisoners, perfectly clean. One prisoner, Reuben Cox - a convict - under medical treatment. 6 September 1847 Magistrates: C H Smith, George P Livius, Charles Moore. 36 prisoners in custody. 5 prisoners received during the week. 2 male convicts on the surgeons list. Solomon Norman is charged with having torn his blanket which was produced, the prisoner confesses having torn his blanket - he is required to pay 5/- the amount of damage done which he promises to pay. James Allen and William Jones are charged with fighting each other in their day room - sentence three days confinement and then to be placed in different day rooms. William Frost is charged with breaking over the fence into the garden and stealing onions yesterday at 6 o clock p.m. He confesses having done so. Sentence one week in his cell and afterward to put in light irons on one leg for a fortnight. John Wright a debtor imprisoned under 8 & 9 Vic 127 is placed with the prisoners for misdemeanours under summary convictions and is ordered to receive the same diet - there being no vacant yard for Debtors under that act.
