- Scope and ContentMagistrates: John Harvey, Charles Gillies Payne. One o'clock Upon examining into the complaint of Eliza Saddler that the police had taken away her wedding ring, it appears from the evidence of Mr Tebbutt the superintendant of police for the town of Bedford as well as from her own statement, that she had a wedding ring in her third finger of the left hand when she was committed finally for trial, which ring she refused to give up on the plea that it was her wedding ring, and which ring she voluntarily gave away during her examination at Luton. The ring which she now states to be her wedding ring was one of five others which were found in one of her drawers at chelmsford when she was arrested. Under these circumstances the magistrates refused to order the restoration of the ring.
