    Apprenticeship Indenture: George Woods to William Attfield Horton of Woburn, plumber and glazier. Term of three years. Indenture: George Woods of his own free will and by and with the consent of his father Thomas Woods of Woburn, journeyman blacksmith (testified by his being made a party to and executing these presents) doth put himself apprentice to the said William Attfield Horton of Woburn, plumber and glazier to learn his art or trade in the manner of an apprentice from the day of the date hereof to serve for the term of three years. During which term the said apprentice shall faithfully serve his said Master in all lawful businesses according to his power skill and ability and behave himself towards his said Master honestly orderly and obediently in all things. William Attfield Horton in consideration of such faithful service and of the covenant hereinafter contained on the part of the said Thomas Woods doth hereby accept and take the said George Woods as his apprentice and him the said George Woods in the said art or trade of a plumber and glazier which he useth by the best means that he can shall teach and instruct or cause to be taught or instructed finding for his said apprentice the necessary tools and utensils used in the said art or trade. And shall pay his said apprentice in lieu and satisfaction of his board and lodging, clothes, washing, tools and all other necessaries during the said term the wages following: Ten shillings per week during the first year, twelve shillings per week during the second year, fourteen shillings per week during the third year of the said term. Thomas Woods hereby covenants with the said William Attfield Horton that he the said Thomas Woods will find and provide for his said son the said George Woods during the apprenticeship good and sufficient board and lodging clothes washing and all other necessaries and physic surgery and nursing in case of sickness or illness. If the said apprentice shall at any time during the said term from illness or on any account whatsoever be absent from the business and employment of the said William Attfield Horton …then such of the same weekly payments…shall not be payable or s due proportion thereof for the term of absence shall be deducted and the subsequent increase of weekly wages shall not commence until the time he may have been so absent shall be made up and in the case of such absence he shall and will continue to serve the said William Attfield Horton as such apprentice for such further time beyond the said term of three years as shall make up the full period of his apprenticeship. For the true performance and several agreements hereinbefore contained either of the parties bindeth themselves to the other by these presents.
