    Apprenticeship Indenture:William Pepper son of Philip Pepper of Eversholt, publican of his own free will and with the consent of his said father, (testified by his executing these presents) doth put himself apprentice to James Andrew Harbert of Woburn, cabinet maker. From the 1st January now last past for the term of four years. James Andrew Harbert in consideration of such faithful service and of the covenant hereinafter contained on the part of the said Philip Pepper and also in consideration of the sum of ten pounds to the said James Andrew Harbert now paid by the said Philip Pepper the receipt whereof the said James Andrew Harbert hereby acknowledges. His said apprentice in the art or trade of a cabinet maker which he useth by the best means that he can shall teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed and shall pay unto the said apprentice the sum of six shillings per week during the first year of the said term, the sum of seven shillings per week during the second year of the said term, the sum of eight shillings per week during the third year of the said term and the sum of nine shillings per week during the fourth and last year of the said term. Philip Pepper hereby covenants with the said James Andrew Harbert that he will find and provide for his said son William Pepper during the said term sufficient and proper tools board lodging clothes washing and all other necessaries, and physic and surgery in case of sickness. In witness whereof the parties above named to this indenture have put their hands and seals the 15th February 1867. Signed; William Pepper; Phillip Pepper; James Andrew Harbert. Witnessed by Henry Thomas Hall, Clerk to Mr Green, Solicitor, Woburn. Receipt on dorse for £10 signed by Thomas Shepherd witnessed by Henry Thomas Hall.
