- Scope and ContentSamuel Clarke, constable of Baldock (Herts) - the prosecutor Taylor Cawdell came to him that morning and told him he suspected there was a man in the town who had robbed him of a pair of boots. Cawdell gave him a description of the man. He searched the public houses and found Langridge at the White Horse Tap. He found the boots (now produced) upon him. Cawdell identified the boots as his property. John Taylor Cawdell of Luton, saddler - on Tuesday morning between 7am and 8am he had a pair of boots under his shop board. Soon after this time he discharged Langridge, who had been working with him more than a month. About 9am he went into town on business and on his return found the boots were gone. Thomas Langridge - nothing to say.
