- Scope and ContentApprenticeship Indenture: John Peter Kempson Abbot. Indenture: John Peter Kempson Abbot son of Sarah Abbot of Ruxox Farm, Flitwick, widow (with the consent of his said mother testified by her being a party to and executing these presents) doth himself apprentice to the said William Hensman & William Hensman the Younger both of Woburn, engineers and agricultural implement makers and co-partners to learn their art and with them in the manner of an apprentice to serve for the term of four years from the second day of April now last past. During which term the said apprentice shall faithfully serve his said Masters in all lawful businesses according to his power skill and ability and behave himself towards his said Masters honestly orderly and obediently in all things. William Hensman and William Hensman the younger in consideration of the sum of twenty nine pounds to be paid to them by the said Sarah Abbot – fourteen pounds ten shillings on the execution of these presents and fourteen pounds and ten shillings on the expiration of two years from the commencement of service of the said John Abbot under this Indenture if the said John Abbot shall be then alive, the receipt of which first mentioned fourteen pounds and ten shillings is hereby acknowledged. William Hensman and William Hensman the younger do hereby accept and take the said John Peter Kempson Abbot as their apprentice and shall and will teach and instruct or cause to be taught & instructed the said apprentice the art and trade of an engineer and agricultural implement maker in all branches thereof. Sarah Abbot doth hereby to find and provide for the said apprentice (her son) sufficient and proper meat drink clothes washing, lodging, and all other necessaries except as hereinafter provided and shall and will provide for his use all and whatever tools shall be necessary to be used by him in the woodwork department. William Hensman and William Hensman the younger do hereby agree to find and provide for their said apprentice tools of every other description necessary for his use during the said term. Either of the parties bindeth themselves to the other by these presents. In witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands and seals the 26th June 1852.
