    Apprenticeship Indenture: David Lane son of William Lane of Wavendon, labourer by and with the consent of his said father testified by his being a party to and executing these presents doth put himself apprentice to apprentice to George Yates of Wavendon, tailor. From the thirteenth day of April last past for the term of seven years or until the said apprentice shall attain the age of twenty one years. George Yates for and in consideration of the sum of twelve pounds paid to him by the said William Lane on the execution of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge. His said apprentice in the art of a tailor which he useth by the best means that he can shall teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed finding unto the said apprentice sufficient meat drink and lodging during the said term. William Lane hereby agrees to provide for his said son sufficient and proper clothes washing mending and all other necessaries during the said term. In witness whereof the parties above named to this indenture have put their hands and seals the 4th day of June 1847. Signed; mark of David Lane; mark of William Lane; George Yates. Witnessed by William Harland, Clerk to Mr Green, Solicitor, Woburn. Receipt for £12 on dorse signed by George Yates and witnessed by William Harland, Clerk.
