    Apprenticeship Indenture: William Brown son of Humphrey Brown of Woburn, cordwainer, apprentice to Elizabeth Barber of Ridgmont, baker and confectioner. From the 11 October last past for the term of five years. Elizabeth Barber in consideration of the sum of nine pounds to be paid to her by the said Humphrey Brown in the manner hereinafter mentioned that is to say five pounds at or before the sealing execution hereof two pounds two shillings within two years from the date hereof and the sum of two pounds ten shillings residue thereof within four years from the date hereof the receipt whereof sum of four pounds is hereby acknowledged. Her said apprentice in the art of a baker and confectioner which she useth by the best means that she can shall teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed finding unto the said apprentice sufficient meat drink and lodging during the said term. Humphrey Brown doth hereby agree with the said Elizabeth Barber to pay to her the said two several sums of two pounds ten shillings each at the respective times above mentioned for payment thereof and to find and provide for his said son sufficient clothes washing and all other necessaries (except meat drink and lodging which are to be provided by the said Elizabeth Barber as aforesaid) during all the said term.
