    Apprenticeship Indenture: William Stone by consent of his Uncle John Furze of the parish of St Paul, Bedford, schoolmaster, apprentice to William Wright of Aspley Guise, Master of the Aspley Academy to be taught, instructed or improved in the Greek, Latin & French languages and in surveying, writing, arithmetic and all other things incident and belonging to the business or employment of a schoolmaster. From the 1 January last past for the term of five years. William Wright in consideration of the sum of ten shillings to be paid to him by the said John Furze at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents (the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge) hath agreed to take and accept the said William Stone as his apprentice during the said term of five years. John Furze doth hereby covenant and agree with William Wright that the said William Stone shall and will during all the said term serve the said William Wright as an apprentice and assistant in the said business and employment of a schoolmaster. William Wright doth hereby agree to and with the said John Furze that according to the best of his power skill and knowledge he will during the term of five years teach and instruct and improve or cause to be taught instructed or approved the said William Stone in the Greek, Latin & French languages and in surveying, writing, arithmetic and all other things incident and belonging to the business or employment of a schoolmaster. William Wright shall and will during the said term find and provide for the said William Stone sufficient meat drink and lodging. John Furze doth agree with William Wright that he shall find and provide for the said William Stone all clothes and apparel and the mending washing and ironing of his linen and other things relative to clothes and apparel, the said William Wright finding and providing sufficient board and a place only for the said William Stone to lodge and sleep in, Should the said William Wright happen to die or shall decline continuing in the management of the School or Academy at Aspley Guise that then the said William Stone shall forthwith at the expense of William Wright or whoever may succeed him as Master of the said Academy be assigned or turned over to such person or persons who shall succeed him for the residue of the unexpired term of his apprenticeship Signed & Sealed: John Furze; William Stone; William Wright.
