    Apprenticeship Indenture: Mannin Tompkins son of Thomas Tompkins of Heath & Reach, dealer in straw plait, apprentice to George Deverell of Leighton Buzzard, baker. From the date hereof for the term of three years. George Deverell in consideration of the sum of eighteen pounds to be paid to him by the said Thomas Tompkins, ten pounds on the day and date of these presents the receipt thereof he doth hereby acknowledge and the remaining sum of eight pounds on the eleventh day of October next ensuing. His said apprentice in the art of baker which he useth by the best means that he can shall teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed finding unto the said apprentice sufficient meat drink and lodging during the said term. Thomas Tompkins doth hereby agree that he his executors and administrators shall and will find proper and sufficient clothes washing mending and all other necessaries (except aforesaid) for his said son during all the said term.
