    Apprenticeship Indenture: George Atterbury of Woburn of the age of fourteen years doth put himself apprentice to William Shepherd of Woburn, jobbing smith. To serve from the date of these presents for a term of seven years. The said William Shepherd in consideration of the service of the said George Atterbury to be done and performed by him for the said William Shepherd doth accept and take the said George Atterbury as his apprentice in the trade of business of a jobbing smith which he now uses and carries on from the day of the date of these presents for a full term of seven years and to allow and pay to him the wages or salary hereinafter mentioned. The said William Shepherd doth hereby for himself his executors and administrators covenant promise and agree to and with the said George Atterbury that… he the said William Shepherd according to the best of his power skill and knowledge shall and will during the said term teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed the said George Atterbury in the trade or business of a jobbing smith….and the said William Shepherd shall pay the said George Atterbury the several sums hereinafter mentioned in lieu and full satisfaction of the board and lodging of the said George Atterbury…the sum of six shillings weekly for the first year, the sum of seven shillings weekly for the second year, the sum of eight shillings weekly for the third and fourth years, the sum of nine shillings weekly for the fifth and sixth years and the sum of ten shillings weekly for the seventh and last year pf the said term, payment to begin on the twenty first day of December instant.
